One of the Nuxalk Chiefs is receiving a headdress of the ‘sisawk’ in October, 1996.  He is a very strong supporter of ‘Ista’ and Nuxalk history.  The carver, Tla’kuulth holds the headdress that he made for Chief  Tl’alamin and everyone awaits to have the official presentation to be made.  Chief Nuximlayc stands to the right as a witness and pay testimony to this historical event.

It is within our Nuxalk laws to bear witness and gather to see these events.  Each of our families must sing and dance to our songs & through history we can carry our names.  It tells us which part of our lands we are from and how we must remember them.
